Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about what the service does, what it does not do, and what you get when you pay.
Do I need an account to try it?
No. Describe a project or open a template and you get a fully working editor with a live, dimensioned cutting layout as a guest. An account is only needed to save designs across devices or to buy a production package.
What exactly do I get when I pay?
A ZIP built from the exact design version you approved: layered SVG and DXF files in millimetres (one per sheet), a true-scale 1:1 PDF with a 100 mm check ruler (plus a tiled version for home printers), an assembly PDF with the bill of parts, a machine-readable geometry validation report, a manifest with file hashes and all assumptions, a README and your license.
Which products can you generate today?
Three families with fully generated and tested joinery: finger-joint boxes (open or with a removable cap lid), open-top compartment organizers with drop-in dividers, and one- or two-layer name signs with raised, engraved or stencil text. Anything else is honestly reported as unsupported — we never draw geometry we cannot stand behind.
Can I upload my own SVG?
Yes. We sanitize the file (no scripts, no external resources), convert supported shapes into contours and report everything we skipped. If the file has no trustworthy physical units you enter one known measurement. A plain SVG has no joinery semantics, so changing material thickness will not rebuild its joints — that only works for our parametric families.
Can you turn a photo into a cutting file?
Not yet in public. Calibrated digitization of flat paper, cardboard or leather templates (with a printed marker sheet and a measured cross-check) is being verified against known-size test pieces. It will be announced only when it passes. A photo of a finished three-dimensional object cannot be turned into cut files from a single image, and we will not pretend otherwise.
How accurate are the files?
The geometry is deterministic and computed in millimetres from your parameters, unit-tested and re-imported from the generated DXF and SVG before anything is delivered. Fit in the real world depends on your machine's kerf, your actual sheet thickness and your material. Enter measured values and test-cut one joint first. Validation covers geometric integrity; it is not a machine certification.
What is kerf and should I turn on compensation?
Kerf is the width of material your laser or blade removes. With compensation on, outer contours grow by half the kerf and holes shrink by half the kerf so finished parts hit the nominal size. Measure it on a test cut. Many laser programs can also apply an offset — do not apply it twice.
Which machines are supported?
Any laser cutter or cutting plotter that imports SVG or DXF. We do not assert compatibility with specific brands; you enter your usable bed size and the files use standard formats and plain layer names. CNC routers are not supported yet because tool-radius and dog-bone relief geometry is not generated.
Is there a subscription?
No. You pay once per production export. The same purchased version can be re-downloaded any time without paying again.
Can I sell things I make with these files?
Yes. The standard license allows personal use and commercial production of physical items. You may not resell or redistribute the digital files themselves. See the licenses page for details.
What happens if my files fail to generate after I paid?
We validate the full package before checkout opens, so this is rare. If generation still fails irrecoverably, the order is flagged for review and you receive a refund or a corrected package — we never mark an undeliverable order as delivered.
Does the AI design my parts?
No. Gemini is used only to understand your request, suggest parameter changes you review and explain validation messages. All cutting geometry is produced by deterministic code; the AI never authors paths, tolerances or prices.

Try it with your own measurements
No account needed. Open a real parametric design, change the dimensions and watch every joint follow — then pay only if you want the files.
