Troubleshooting
Fixes for scale, double cuts, open paths, print size and failed checks.
- My SVG imports at the wrong sizeFix SVG files that open too small or too large in Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio, LightBurn or Inkscape, and SVGs you import into DIYCutLab with no real size.
- My laser cuts twice over the same lineFind and remove duplicated or overlapping cut lines that make a laser burn the same edge twice, char the material or cut parts loose.
- My cutter doesn't recognize some pathsWhy some lines do not cut, score or draw on Cricut, Silhouette, vinyl cutters or lasers, and how to make every line do what you expect.
- My printed PDF is not actual sizeThe printed template or check ruler measures wrong. Find the print setting that scaled it and get a true 1:1 print.
- My design exceeds the machine bedFix parts that are larger than your laser bed, cutting mat or paper, or that sit outside the canvas or sheet margins.
- My image tracing is inaccurateImprove traced outlines — missing parts, jagged edges, too many specks or wrong size — by adjusting the source image and the trace settings.
- My imported DXF has missing elementsAdvancedWhy some DXF content does not appear after import — blocks, hatches, text, dimensions or unknown units — and how to convert the file so it imports completely.
- My geometry validation failedHow to read the manufacturing check, find the object behind each error, and fix the most common problems before export.
- How to fix open paths and contoursAn open contour is a cut line whose ends do not meet, so no part can be cut out. Find open paths and close them with Repair paths or the Closed switch.
- Fixing overlapping shapes and stray holesResolve overlapping parts, holes outside parts, engraving outside the material and self-intersecting outlines.
- Parts or details are too smallFix parts, bridges, fingers and specks that are smaller than your process can cut reliably.
- My material is not suitable for this processResolve material and process mismatches — vinyl on a laser, wood on a cutter, sheets that are too thick — by changing one or the other.
- Text does not fit or cannot be cutFix text that is too long, too small, missing characters, or stencil text that would drop the centres of letters.
- A component's settings are out of rangeFix box, organizer, sign and coaster components whose dimensions, compartments or options cannot be built.
