Getting started

Customize an existing template

Open a box, organizer, name sign or coaster template in the studio and change its size, thickness, text and options while the joints regenerate.

Templates are parametric components: instead of fixed drawings, they are rules that rebuild the parts whenever you change a number.

Open a template

On templates choose Open in studio. The template is inserted as one component on a new canvas. Quick editor opens the simpler single-template editor instead.

Change it

Click the component to select it. The Properties panel shows its settings:

  • Dimensions such as width, depth and height — outside dimensions, in millimetres.
  • Options such as the number of compartments, the lid type, finger width or joint clearance.
  • Engraving text and Font, where the template supports them.
  • Own thickness if this component uses a different sheet than the rest of the design.

Every change regenerates finger counts, notch depths and slot positions from the same geometry that goes into your files.

Make it yours

Add your own shapes and text around the component, or use Convert to editable outlines to turn its parts into ordinary paths you can edit freely. After converting, the parts no longer regenerate when the thickness changes, so set the thickness first.
