Layered name sign
A one- or two-layer plaque with your name as raised, engraved or stencil-cut letters and optional hanging holes.
No account needed. The editor opens a guest design you can keep by signing in later.
Default configuration, rendered by the engine (sheet 1).
What it does
- Five outline shapes with exact width and height
- Two-layer version with an inset front layer for a contrasting border
- Text converted to real outlines from three licensed fonts
- Raised letters merge connected script into single pieces
- Hanging holes checked for edge clearance
What it does not do (yet)
- Stencil mode refuses letters with enclosed counters instead of producing loose islands
- Very small raised pieces (dots, accents) are flagged
- Engraving is replaced by a pen/score layer on cutting plotters

Materials
Plywood 3 mm
Thickness options: 3, 4, 5, 6 mm · min feature 1.5 mm
Real plywood varies ±0.3 mm; measure your sheet with calipers for tight joints.
MDF 3 mm
Thickness options: 3, 4, 6 mm · min feature 1.5 mm
MDF chars at edges; kerf is often slightly wider than plywood.
Acrylic 3 mm
Thickness options: 2, 3, 4, 5 mm · min feature 1 mm
Cast acrylic engraves frosty white; extruded acrylic does not. Finger joints in acrylic are brittle: use glue.
Cardstock (300 gsm, ~0.35 mm)
Thickness options: 0.25, 0.35, 0.5 mm · min feature 1.5 mm
Suitable for layered signs only; it cannot form rigid joints.
Paper (120 gsm, ~0.15 mm)
Thickness options: 0.1, 0.15, 0.2 mm · min feature 1 mm
Printable templates: print at 100 % and check the ruler before cutting.
Adhesive vinyl (~0.1 mm)
Thickness options: 0.08, 0.1, 0.15 mm · min feature 1.5 mm
Never laser cut vinyl (PVC): it releases chlorine gas.
Fine details under 1.5 mm are hard to weed.
Heat-transfer vinyl (~0.15 mm)
Thickness options: 0.1, 0.15, 0.2 mm · min feature 1.5 mm
Cut mirrored (turn on Mirror output).
Never laser cut vinyl (PVC).
Veg-tan leather 2 mm
Thickness options: 1.5, 2, 3 mm · min feature 2 mm
Only vegetable-tanned leather is laser-safe; chrome-tanned leather releases toxic fumes.
General starting points; your measured thickness and kerf always override presets. We do not assert compatibility with specific machine brands.

Questions
What does 'raised letters' mean?
The letters are cut as separate pieces you glue onto the top layer. Connected script fonts merge into one piece per word; small loose pieces such as dots are flagged.
Why does stencil mode refuse my text?
Cut-through letters with enclosed counters (O, A, P, R, e, a…) would leave loose islands. Stencil mode is allowed only for text without counters; otherwise choose raised or engraved letters.
Does it work on a cutting plotter?
Yes, for cardstock and similar thin sheets: choose the cutting plotter method. Engraving is replaced by a pen/score layer because plotters cannot engrave.
Are the fonts licensed for commercial use?
Yes. Inter, Lora and Pacifico are SIL Open Font License fonts, which permit converting glyphs to outlines and selling what you cut. The license texts ship inside your package.
