CNC routing and 3D printing (planned)

What DIYCutLab offers today for CNC routers and 3D printers, what the planned modules will add, and how to use the current files safely.

CNC routers today

The DXF in a laser package is a 2D profile. It is not a ready-to-run CNC job: it has no tool diameter, cutting depth, tabs, feeds, speeds or workholding information.

To use it, import the DXF into your CAM software (for example Fusion 360, VCarve, Easel or Carbide Create) and create toolpaths there. Remember that a router bit cannot cut sharp inside corners; finger joints need dog-bone or T-bone reliefs, which the current templates do not add.

Planned CNC module

The planned module is intended to cover CAM preparation, tool selection and diameter, inside-corner reliefs, toolpath validation, cutting depth, workholding and machine-specific safety checks.

3D printing

DIYCutLab designs flat parts. Genuine 3D models (STL or 3MF) with slicer guidance — dimension checks, orientation, material choice and printer safety — are planned for a later module. Until then, the assistant will tell you when a request needs 3D modelling.
