Troubleshooting

Parts or details are too small

Fix parts, bridges, fingers and specks that are smaller than your process can cut reliably.

Updated 2026-10-24 1 min read

Each process has a smallest detail it can cut reliably — 1.0 mm on a laser, 1.5 mm on Cricut, Silhouette and vinyl cutters, more for some materials. See minimum feature sizes.

Fixes

  • Tiny loose pieces (dots, letter counters, specks): delete them, engrave them instead, or make them larger.
  • Thin bridges or strokes: thicken with Offset (Advanced mode) or redraw wider.
  • Small text: increase Cap height, or engrave instead of cutting.
  • Narrow box fingers: increase Finger width in the component options, or make the edge longer.
  • Joint edge too short: the edge is too short for at least one finger; make the box larger in that direction.

Why it is not just a warning

Below the limit, a laser burns through the detail, a blade tears it, and vinyl cannot be weeded. Small issues that will merely look rough are warnings; details that cannot survive are errors.
